Yoga Teacher Training
WHAT IS HOT26?
Hot26 is a system of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises that are systematically performed in a heated room to flush the entire body out from bone to skin, head to toe. The yoga postures performed in this sequence are from the Ghosh lineage.
Paramahansa Yogananda's little brother, Bishnu Ghosh founded the College of Physical Education in Calcutta, India in 1923 and was Bikram Choudhury's teacher. Bikram Choudhury added heat to the postures he had learned from his guru while teaching in Japan in the 1960's when he discovered the benefits of heat therapy. He brought the class of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises to Hollywood in 1974 when he started the Yoga College of India.
Over the past 40+ years, the Hot26 class has helped millions of people all over the world heal their bodies, strengthen their minds, and gain a better self-awareness. This class has lasted for this long because it works. Not only does this class help you develop balance, strength, self control, and flexibility, it also teaches you patience, self- acceptance, endurance, and focus.
When you make Hot26 a part of your regular self-care routine, you will find your movements become more graceful, your daily labor becomes easier, and your anxiety is soothed. This class was built to strengthen your spine, tone your digestive system, mobilize your joints, and teach your mind to focus so that it can be relieved of anxiety, depression, and other emotional stress. This class is not hard on your joints or muscles like most physical workouts- instead, it uses gentle yoga poses to strengthen and stretch every single muscle, joint, ligament, and tendon in your body- all while inducing a river of sweat that is like a shower for your body from the inside out.
Hot26 School of Yoga was founded in 2017 by Emily Henderson. She has been in the fitness, health, and wellness industry since 1997 when she graduated from the Utah College of Massage Therapy. After practicing yoga for over 20 years, Emily received her first Yoga Teaching certificate in 2014. In addition to teaching yoga, she has taught ballet, gymnastics, and has homeschooled her 4 children their entire lives. Hot26 School of Yoga was born out of Emily's love for serving others during their wellness journey- and her desire to create a certification program that trained teachers to teach a class that preserved the amazing benefits that she was lucky enough to have learned from the yogis of India who dedicated their entire lives to the practice.
As our school has grown and produced capable, intelligent, and effective teachers, they have moved on to open their own studios across the world. These teachers have been taught to preserve the therapeutic value of the Hot26 class by carefully teaching the class at their own studios exactly the way they have been taught. There are many yoga studios that teach hot yoga- but the Original Hot Yoga is getting lost in the western world. The Original Hot Yoga Class as brought to America from India was a 90 minute class where all 26 postures were performed 2 times- the first time to strengthen and warm the proper muscles and joints used for the posture, and the second time to stretch deeper into the muscles once they have been warmed up. This creates a strong AND flexible body.
A Hot26 studio teaches the Original Hot Yoga class- while keeping the therapeutic value in mind that Bishnu Ghosh brought to his yoga.
When you practice at a Hot26 studio, you will be learning from teachers who have spent over 200 hours educating themselves about the postures, their anatomy, benefits, and modifications for different bodies.
These teachers have been carefully trained to understand the postures and how they look in different bodies, how to instruct them in the most efficient way, and how to teach a class so that students can follow along in a safe, smart, and effective manner.
When you take a class at a Hot26 studio, you can trust that you will be taking a class that will deliver you the full benefits hot yoga was designed to give.
